Earlier this year we took two yr. 6 classes to the prominent chess competition Schack56an, held yearly at Globen by the Swedish Chess Association. This is the largest chess competition in the world for children and this was the 26th year it was held.
All students that won all their three matches that day were invited for a final at the Schackförbundet headquarters on Södermalm yesterday and we had five enthusiastic students representing our school. The boys had a great day playing against the best chess players their age in the country, some games were won and some lost, new moves were learned, and much excitement was in the air, especially during those crucial last matches! One of our boys came just short of a trophy placement but everyone walked out into the sunshine with a smile on their face and a diploma in their hand!
